Sabine Kalff

Sabine Kalff ist Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaftlerin. Sie hat 2011 über die „Politische Medizin der Frühen Neuzeit. Die Figur des Arztes in Italien und England im frühen 17. Jahrhundert“ promoviert. Seit 2012 ist sie wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Institut für Deutsche Literatur der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, am Lehrstuhl mit der Denomination Gender Studies.

Sie arbeitet an ihrem Habilitationsprojekt über Frauen im Luftkrieg. Es trägt den Titel „Aerial Affairs“. Weibliche Verhaltenslehren im Luftkrieg, Deutschland 1925–1945“ (Interview). Darin geht es nicht nur um Bombardierte, sondern auch um aktive Teilnehmerinnen des Luftkriegs, wie vor allem Pilotinnen. Darüber hinaus bereitet sie ein größeres Projekt über die Pilotinnen des Zweiten Weltkriegs vor. Women in Aviation

Sabine Kalff studied German Literature, Culture Studies and American Studies at Humboldt Unversity, Berlin and La Sapienza, Rome. She earned her PhD at Hamburg University in 2011 with a PhD thesis on „Political Medicine in the Early Modern Period. The Figure of the Physician in Early 17th Italy and England“, published in 2014 (De Gruyter).

After having worked at the University of Kassel and at the Department of Comparative Literature / Romance Studies at the Free University, Berlin, she joined the German Department of the Humboldt University, Berlin as an Assistant Professor. She is currently working on her second book on German female life-writing on the air warfare in WW2, entitled “Aerial Affairs. Female Conduct Codes in the Air Warfare, Germany 1925 to 1945“. It investigates the narratives of victims of the air warfare as well as those from active war participants, specially those of female pilots.
